1.30pm, Sunday 1 May | The Neilson
The ACO’s new home at Walsh Bay will see the Orchestra surrounded by fellow creative arts organisations, from dance and theatre to choral music and more. As part of the Pier 2/3 Opening Festival celebrations, the ACO presents The Song Company, resident in neighbouring Wharf 4/5.
Led by Song Company Artistic Director Antony Pitts, the extraordinary chamber vocal ensemble has been conducting a grand tour of European polyphony through the practice of reading from original manuscript notation – and in this instalment, they open the choirbook containing Antoine Brumel’s 12-part ‘Earthquake’ Mass.
Reverberating in-between the movements of Brumel’s masterpiece are modern works for six to twelve voices by Alice Chance and Antony Pitts on the themes of loss and resurrection.
