9 - 24 March 2024
Performance Info
Kristian Bezuidenhout is renowned as one of the finest and most intriguing pianists of this generation. He steps away from a major orchestral tour with the ACO to give a one-off solo recital in The Neilson, ACO Pier 2/3.
Kristian has built a formidable legacy through performances that sparkle with invention and freshness. Equally at home on modern and historical keyboards, he is an Artistic Director of the Freiburger Barockorchester and Principal Guest Director with the English Concert, and maintains recital partnerships with leading artists around the world including Isabelle Faust, Alina Ibragimova, Anne Sofie von Otter and more.
This is a concert for piano lovers and admirers of exceptional artistry. In his recital, Kristian will play music close to his heart by JS Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Froberger. The performance will be interspersed with conversation that will reveal more about the music and this superlative artist.
Born in South Africa, brought up in Australia, Kristian studied in New York and now lives in London. This is a rare chance to hear him perform solo in Sydney.
Music by Mozart, Beethoven, Froberger and JS Bach.
This concert is a rare opportunity to hear Kristian performing on two different historical instruments, comparing and contrasting their sounds: a copy of a fortepiano by Johann Andreas Stein, a revolutionary piano maker well known to composers of the late classical era; and a harpsichord made in 1763 by Jacob Kirckman.
