ACO Cello Melissa

Melissa Barnard

Cello
Chair sponsored by Dr Jason and Mrs Alex Wenderoth

Her travels and performances with the ACO span multiple continents and countries, with performances in international concert halls including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Royal Festival Hall, Barbican Hall and Wigmore Hall in London, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Berliner Philharmonie, Suntory and Kioi Halls in Tokyo, Frank Gehry’s Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles and the Sydney Opera House.

Melissa performs on her own fine Joseph Hill cello, made in 1760, as well as a beautiful 1846 Jean Baptiste Vuillaume cello generously loaned to her by the ACO.
When not on tour, Melissa lives in an atmospheric corner of the NSW south coast between the escarpment and the ocean with her musician partner, her daughter and two German Shorthaired Pointers.
