Ruby Jackson

Sydney Festival: Starfish Club: Special Edition feat. Ruby Jackson

Sydney Festival presents Ruby Jackson at ACO On The Pier, as part of its 2025 program.

“Sensationally exciting and beautiful solos from all members, over surging, driving, rocking and sometimes static choirs of ensemble sound.” – Australian Jazz  [on Jonathan Zwartz’s Starfish band]

From sold-out monthly shows at the Clovelly Bowlo to a line-up of guests that have included Tim Rogers, Don Walker, iOTA and Kate Ceberano, the Starfish Club is Sydney’s best-kept music secret. Now, the local institution is bringing its lush jazz sound to a special Sydney Festival.

Led by Jonathan Zwartz on double bass and Hamish Stuart on drums, the legendary Starfish rhythm is joined by special guests Laneous, Barney McAll and vocalist sensation Ruby Jackson, bringing her smooth blend of R&B and jazz.

Jackson is a Sydney-born singer and composer who fell in love with jazz listening to Nat King Cole and Billie Holiday. After training at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, she went on to release her acclaimed 2023 EP Sweeter For Me and has hit festival stages like BIGSOUND and SXSW Sydney. At this special Starfish Club show, see why she’s earned a reputation for songwriting beyond her years and creating magic on stage.

Partial lockout applies – latecomers will be admitted at an appropriate break in the performance. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment.
