“[Her] voice could quell riots and romance tyrants.” – Drum Media [on Dannielle De Andrea]
From sold-out monthly shows in Clovelly to a line-up of guests that have included Tim Rogers, Don Walker, iOTA and Kate Ceberano, the Starfish Club is Sydney’s best-kept musical secret. Now, the local institution is bringing its shimmering jazz sound to a special Sydney Festival show featuring the acclaimed vocalist Dannielle Gaha DeAndrea (aka Gaha).
Led by Jonathan Zwartz on double bass, the legendary Starfish rhythm section of drummer Hamish Stuart, pianist Bill Risby, saxophonist Matt Keegan and guitar prodigy Oliver Thorpe will lay down the jazz grooves, with De Andrea delivering one of her signature vocal performances.
In a storied career that has seen her work alongside John Farnham and perform with artists including Jackson Browne, Tom Jones, Sting, Kylie Minogue and Ariana Grande, De Andrea has showcased her emotional range and unforgettable vocals – talents that moved American Idol judge Randy Jackson to declare her “One of Australia’s best singers. Ever.”
