Parvyn

Sydney Festival: Parvyn

Sydney Festival presents Punjabi-Australian star on the rise, Parvyn, at ACO On The Pier, for its 2025 program.

“With a background in traditional Indian singing and dancing, the Punjabi-Australian artist puts on a live show that is nothing short of ecstatic and brilliant.” – Tone Deaf

An electrifying live performer with a storied history in classical Indian music, Punjabi-Australian vocalist and dancer Parvyn has drawn in audiences around the world with her fusion of traditional sounds with dance, electronica and jazz.

She has spent her life on stage, beginning her touring career at age seven with her father, Dya Singh, before coming into her own as a performer in Bollywood-inspired psychedelic rock band The Bombay Royale.

With influences ranging from Björk to Anoushka Shankar, Parvyn is adept at melding musical genres and styles. She draws upon her background in dance, devotional Sikh music and Indian classical to create a sound that is truly global, also weaving elements of pop, soul and hip-hop into her irresistible sonic tapestry. Her debut album, Sa, was released to acclaim in 2021, and her sophomore album, Maujuda, is hot on its heels this November.

Paryvn has performed everywhere from Glastonbury to WOMADelaide and London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall. She takes on Sydney Festival with her incredible band – including award-winning bansuri (flute) virtuoso Vinod Prasanna.

Patrons are advised that this event is predominantly standing room only.

Partial lockout applies – latecomers will be admitted at an appropriate break in the performance. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment.
