Join Clara in an enchanted dreamland as she befriends the Nutcracker and goes on a magical Christmas Eve journey in this mesmerising ACO Families production, returning again this December due to popular demand.
Created in collaboration with former Artistic Director of The Australian Ballet David McAllister, this clever adaptation of the much-loved ballet brings together Tchaikovsky’s beloved music, performed live by an ACO quintet, with dance and narration in an immersive theatrical experience.
The ACO’s The Nutcracker is the perfect introduction to live classical music and ballet, guaranteed to captivate and delight the whole family this festive season.

ACO Relaxed Performance: The performance on Tue 17 Dec, 12pm is an ACO Relaxed Performance, with a dedicated quiet space. All are welcome to attend this performance, which will simply have a dedicated quiet space, additional support for patrons with access needs, and some increased noise levels likely. Audio Described Option Available: The performance on Wed 18 Dec, 12pm will have equipment for audio description available. Make sure you select a ticket with audio description headset at checkout. A trained audio describer will provide a live narration of the performance, relayed via an in-house receiver to an earpiece. Headsets can be collected from the Box Office at ACO On The Pier one hour before the show. Before the audio-described performance begins, patrons will have the opportunity to join a 20-minute tactile tour of the set, props, and costumes.
