ACO Up Close: Intimate Bach & Pärt
24 - 26 August 2024
Performance Info
Scottish guitarist Sean Shibe will not be contained within set boundaries, nor categorised in any single way.
Leave assumptions behind and experience his groundbreaking approach to guitar playing in this one-off recital, which features the Australian premiere of English composer Thomas Adès’s astonishing Forgotten Dances, written especially for Shibe. The rare 20-minute work is Adès’s first published work for a solo instrument other than piano.
Sean will also perform a selection of traditional and contemporary Scottish works in an unforgettable evening which compliments his national tour concert with Richard Tognetti and the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Scotland Unbound.
Don’t miss this chance to see the artist that has given us “the best-ever Bach recording on guitar” (Gramophone Magazine) up close and personal in the spectacular setting of our Sydney venue.
This recital will feature a conversation with the artist, hosted by Ce Benedict.
