The vibrant future of classical music in Australia is right here. In their first project for the year, ACO Emerging Artists for 2023 join ACO Collective, led by ACO Principal Violin Helena Rathbone, in an exciting collaboration with world-acclaimed classical accordionist James Crabb.
Get to know the next generation of Australian talent in this intimate setting as they celebrate a wide range of chamber music, from classic string quartets through to fresh folk-inspired arrangements highlighting the versatility and expressivity of the classical accordion.

Director & Violin
Helena Rathbone has performed as Principal Violin with the ACO since 1994, and regularly performs with the Orchestra as a soloist and guest leader. In addition, Helena is the Orchestra Representative and Mentor for the ACO’s Emerging Artists Program and Director of ACO Collective.
James Crabb
Classical Accordion
James Crabb is a Scottish classical accordion virtuoso. He plays a 1992 Pigini Mythos No.4 model accordion, tuned and prepared by Viktor Melnyk.
