ACO Collective
ACO Collective combines the professional musicians of the ACO with Australia’s most talented emerging string players. The result is an ensemble full of youthful energy with the dynamism and artistry for which the ACO is renowned.
Touring to Pier 2/3, and regional New South Wales and Queensland.
A frequent performer on the world’s most celebrated concert hall stages, British violinist Matthew Truscott leads ACO Collective in a thrilling program of dances from across the ages.
Matthew is concertmaster and leader of two of Europe’s most renowned orchestras: the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
We’re thrilled to announce his return to Australia in this series of concerts across Queensland and New South Wales. Matthew and ACO Collective will perform a tapestry of dance music for string orchestra, showcasing the vitality and virtuosity of this incredible ensemble. Energy permeates every turn, from the Baroque elegance of Purcell’s England to the thrill-seeking dynamism of Australian composer Holly Harrison’s Black Ice, commissioned especially for ACO Collective.
The rhythmic intensity of Stravinsky’s iconic ballet Petrushka comes to life in a new arrangement for strings, before the concert closes with Bartók’s showstopper, his Divertimento for String Orchestra. Overflowing with the folk melodies of his native Hungary, it’s the perfect showcase for ACO Collective.
