Relaxed Performance - How to Catch a Star
Weaving together story and live music, ACO Family shows offer an inspirational introduction to classical music. With newly commissioned music by some of Australia’s most acclaimed composers, performed by some of Australia’s finest musicians, these experiences will be sure to ignite a lifelong love of music and the performing arts.
Sharing music with new audiences lies at the heart of everything we do. This year we have launched a series of performances tailored to patrons with access needs.
Presented with flexible seating, adjusted lighting and sound levels, and a quiet space to chill out, this relaxed and AUSLAN interpreted performance of How to Catch a Star welcomes people on the autism spectrum, people with sensory sensitivities, people who are hearing impaired, and all people with disability and access needs, in an informal, daytime experience.
Come along, respond to the music, make noise, be yourself and have fun!
How to Catch a Star
Once there was a boy and the boy loved stars very much. Every night he watched the stars from his window and wished he had one of his own. One day, he decided he would try to catch a star… but first he had to think of a plan…
Based on the book by international best-selling author Oliver Jeffers, How to Catch a Star is a brand new ACO production which will take you on a journey from awe and wonder, through to perseverance and triumph.
In a stunning adaptation by Sandra Eldridge, Jeffers’ magical tale about reaching for dreams will be brought to life on stage through storytelling and exquisite new music by Elena Kats-Chernin performed by an ACO string quartet. Join us for this enchanting experience that will leave you and your little ones filled with hope and optimism.
