The Australian Chamber Orchestra is ensemble-in-residence during the 2024 instalment of the Prison Yard Festival, which takes place at Hong Kong's historic Tai Kwun.
Richard Tognetti leads the Orchestra, as well as guest performers Joseph Tawadros (oud) and James Tawadros (riq), in two distinctive and dynamic programs that showcase the very best of the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
ACO Principal Cello Timo-Veikko 'Tipi' Valve will also join the award-winning Cong Quartet as special guest to perform Schubert's beloved String Quintet in C.
Here is an insight into the tour, through behind-the-scenes photos taken by our musicians.
Welcome to Hong Kong
Artistic Director Richard Tognetti is joined by guest artists Joseph Tawadros (oud) and James Tawadros (riq), visiting RTHK (Radio Television Hong Kong) for interviews, and to perform with other members of the ACO on RTHK The Works.
Free day to explore
Members of the Orchestra enjoy a free day before a busy schedule of rehearsals, exploring Hong Kong's coast and beaches.
Rehearsals commence
The Orchestra is joined by oud virtuoso Joseph Tawadros and riq master James Tawadros, rehearsing The Four Seasons at Tai Kwun.
Spotted: violinists Anna da Silva Chen, Thibaud Pavlovic-Hobba and Tim Yu caught trapped by their food cravings.
ACO Violin Liisa Pallandi and ACO Principal Cello Timo-Veikko Valve do some sight-seeing!
Tai Kwun's Prison Yard Festival
A spectacular location for our concerts this weekend. The ACO is artist in residence at the 2024 instalment of the Prison Yard Festival, where our programs include The Four Seasons, with oud virtuoso Joseph Tawadros and riq master James Tawadros, and Tchaikovsky's Serenade, featuring the sublime work for string orchestra.
Thank you to everyone who came out to watch our performances.
